Hi, everyone. I'm Brian Krueger with CollegeGrad.com and this is The Job Search Minute. In the last Job Search Minute we talked about the smile being the most important interview non-verbal. What’s the second most important? Eye contact. You need to maintain positive eye contact throughout the interview. If you look away while listening, it can indicate a lack of interest and short attention span. If you look away while speaking, it shows lack of confidence in what you are saying and can even send the non-verbal cue that you are lying. Don’t just assume you have good eye contact, watch yourself, then practice. Some people maintain excellent eye contact while listening, but lose eye contact while speaking, or vice versa. Watch yourself on tape, then practice until you are comfortable maintaining sincere, continuous eye contact.
