High School Completion Schools, Online Degrees and Programs

Completion programs are available across an increasingly wide range of categories nationwide.

What do you know about High School Completion Programs?

Adult high school completion programs are intended for adult learners who do not have a high school diploma. The U.S. Department of Education's High School Equivalency Program (HEP) helps people who are 16 years old but not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma. With a high school diploma or equivalent, graduates then have the opportunity to get work or begin postsecondary education or training. The General Education Development (GED) program is a test you can take if you've dropped out of high school and want your high school equivalency diploma. Many programs are available both online and in person to help train you to take the test, but the test must be taken in person. Many testing sites and dates are available throughout the country. You must be 18 years old to take the GED, but you can apply for a waiver if you are over the age of 16. Many local high schools and community colleges offer classes in high school completion for adults that are separate from the normal high school curriculum. Some even offer the opportunity to earn college credit concurrently! According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, people without a high school diploma or equivalent earn a weekly median income of $401, while those with a high school diploma earn $574. Add some college classes to your educational portfolio, and your wage rises even more.
